IRCTC iMudra Wallet: Benefits of having this e-wallet

IRCTC iMudra: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) offers a prepaid card called ‘iMudra’ which allows us to book tickets, send or receive money, do online and offline shopping and even withdraw cash from the ATMs. The e-wallet facility by the IRCTC gives you a hasslefree and secure transaction experience.

The iMudra VISA card can be used for all purchases only on Indian websites in Indian currency.


To add money in your IRCTC iMudra wallet, click on the ‘Add Money’ option. You will then have to enter/pick the amount and proceed to load your wallet with a payment instrument like Debit card, UPI or Credit card. A convenience fee may be charged to the total amount on the basis of the payment instrument/amount selected.

You can access the wallet on your mobile, tablet and even desktop. The digital wallet comes with virtual and physical card options. The digital card is free while the physical card is Rs 236. There is no card activation fees. The iMudra cards can be operated in all Visa verified ATMs in India.

The monthly e-wallet limit for full KYC verified users is Rs 100000 while that for minimum KYC verified users is Rs  10,000. While performing a transaction, select your IRCTC iMudra Physical or Digital Card as a Credit Card.

How can you complete your KYC?
The subscribers of iMudra e-wallet can complete their KYC using their Aadhaar Number and the mobile number linked with their Aadhaar. Alternatively, you can request for Full KYC through physical verification, where the document verification will be done by one of our agents visiting your place with a prior appointment. He will verify the hard copies of the document and approve to upgrade your KYC. An electronic method to complete full KYC is under development.
